Wingello RFB participated in the Statewide Open Day on Saturday 15th September and played host to a small number of visitors who were interested in all facets of the brigades activities. There were also a lot of enquires regarding the upcoming fire season and what preparations should be made beforehand. Despite the small number the day was considered to be a great success. A full range of information was available to give advice to residents on what preparations should be undertaken before the fire season.
The pictorial display of the 1965 'Chatsbury Fire' which heavily impacted on Wingello was a source of great interest. The 'Chatsbury Fire' was the last major fire in Wingello
A number of residents were interested in the 'rural numbering' program introduced by the Wingecarribee Shire Council. Wingello Captain, David Stimson shows a local resident over the maps depicting how the system will work. The Wingello RFB is involved in the project, in the initial ground-truthing of the numbering, and then the placing of the numbers on individual properties
The free suasage sizzle as always proved to be very popular
