The brigade has an obligation to work closely with the community in assisting residents in understanding, preparing and coping with the threat or impact of bushfire. The Wingello RFB members carry out this responsibility in several ways.

• By conducting 'FireWise' community meetings to liaise with residents on the best way that they can prepare themselves and their properties for the potential threat of bushfire
• By providing on-site inspections and advice in relation to the preparation of property in the event of impact of bushfire
• By providing facilitators to organise smaller group meetings at various community locations to enable access to relevant information and advice
• To provide timely and relevant information and advice about potential bushfire threat, on the notice board situated at the front of the Wingello General Store
• To provide timely and relevant information and advice about potential bushfire threat, for those who have access to the internet through the brigade's website
