On Wednesday 25th January 15 Wingecarribee RFS members were flown to Victoria as part of a 96 strong Task Force to assist the Victorian CFA with the spate of bushfires that were threatening several areas of Victoria. The Task Force was sent to the Grampian Mountains in western Victoria where the fire there had already caused considerable property and stock losses. It was also the area where the tragic death occurred of a father and his son when caught in their car. The Wingecarribee Group was made up of firefighters from several brigades and the photos in this section depict some of their experiences

On Thursday 26/1 the weather predicted was a firefighters nightmare with the temperature reaching 41 degrees very low humidity and strong and gusty winds. The task force was employed to patrol behind already established containment lines for the very likely occurrence of the fire spotting and taking a very fast run in the surrounding cropping country
The NSW Task Force were required to make up composite crews  with members of the CFA (2x CFA & 3x NSW) and to work on their trucks . This arrangement worked very well with many new friendships formed and much interest from both sides in the different way things were done from state to state
